Where do you start once you've decided to take that step towards buying a home?

The first step is financing and meeting with a professional lender. Here are some benefits of being pre-approved?

Expectations. Once you've seen a lender, you will have a realistic picture of the loans available to you. This way you don't find a dream home and come to find out it's out of your reach.

Eye catching. Become eye catching to sellers. Sellers and agents will know you're serious when you come in pre-approved. This lets the seller know you're ready to go and can actually sign that check.

Options. You still have options to shop around with different lenders once you've been pre-approved. To help with your credit, it is best to get your offers with the different lenders within a 2 week period. Keep in mind that mortgage rates change on a daily basis as you apply for your loans.

Jump start. With a home loan comes lots of paperwork, tax information, proof of where your money is coming from, bank statements, etc.. The earlier you start on this paperwork, the easier it will be at closing. This will help create a smoother closing and a lower chance of mortgage complications.
